From Bamboo to Paper: This Ancient Chinese Craft Passed Down Though Millennia!

造紙術(shù)是我國古代四大發(fā)明之一。四川省夾江縣是竹紙的重要產(chǎn)地之一，素來有“蜀紙之鄉(xiāng)”的美稱。2009年，夾江縣成功申報(bào)為“中國書畫紙之鄉(xiāng)”。

The art of papermaking is one of the four great inventions of ancient China. Jiajiang County in Sichuan Province is one of the important production areas for bamboo paper, renowned as the "Hometown of Shu Paper. " In 2009, Jiajiang County successfully applied to be recognized as the "Hometown of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Paper."

1400年前，夾江馬村人秉承先師蔡倫技法，改良和發(fā)展了造紙工藝，重現(xiàn)古法造紙72道工序。夾江竹紙以嫩竹為原料，用手工舀紙術(shù)制作，從選料到成紙共15個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)、72道工序。一張潔白的手工竹紙需要造紙工人歷時(shí)3個(gè)多月，經(jīng)歷槌打、漿灰、蒸煮、浸泡、發(fā)酵、搗料、加漂、下槽、抄紙、榨紙、刷紙、整理切割等繁復(fù)工序才能造出來，夾江竹紙?jiān)粐嫶髱煆埓笄壬u(yù)為“國之二寶”之一。

Over 1,400 years ago, people from Ma Village in Jiajiang, inherited the techniques of their predecessors, improved and developed the craft, faithfully reproducing the 72 processes of ancient papermaking. Jiajiang bamboo paper, made from fresh bamboo, is produced using traditional handcrafted papermaking techniques, involving a total of 15 steps and 72 processes from material selection to finished paper. It takes over three months to make a piece of handmade bamboo paper, involving complex processes such as beating, pulping, steaming, soaking, fermenting, pounding, bleaching, sheeting, pressing, brushing, and cutting. Renowned Chinese painter Zhang Daqian once praised it as a national treasure.

正是這樣的匠心獨(dú)運(yùn)和不懈追求，使得夾江竹紙?jiān)跉v經(jīng)千年的傳承中，依然保持著獨(dú)特的魅力和品質(zhì)。2006年，夾江竹紙制作技藝被列入國家非物質(zhì)文化遺產(chǎn)名錄。

It is this meticulous craftsmanship and relentless pursuit that has allowed Jiajiang bamboo paper to maintain its unique charm and quality through thousands of years of inheritance. In 2006, the craft of Jiajiang bamboo papermaking was inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
